Solar Silk (2018)

Coal+Ice at Fort Mason, SF

Collaborator: Michael Simpson

Thanks to: Humans of Tomorrow team
Solar Silk is a floating installation that embodies the potential of solar energy by illuminating with colors that are based upon the forecasted UV index at Fort Mason where the piece is installed. Using relevant equations, the UV index can be used as a means of estimating the potential solar energy available for harvesting.

The piece was created to be installed at the Solutions Zone at the Coal+Ice exhibition hosted to inspire climate actions through art and ideas. Solar Silk celebrates solar energy, one of the most prevalent and promising renewable energy.
