Solar Silk is a floating installation that embodies the potential of solar energy by illuminating sail cloth with colors that are based upon the current UV index at the site of the installation. Using relevant equations, the UV index can be used as a means of estimating the potential solar energy available for harvesting.

This installation was part of the Coal+Ice exhibition hosted to inspire climate actions through art and ideas, for California’s climate change summit in 2018. The concept was to provide a way for perceiving the current potential for solar energy harvesting.
